Unified in Mission has many facets to the organization with the education sector being one of them. Our goal with this new training facility is to provide children with a safe and encouraging place to let their imagination and creativity soar. Uganda does not offer any free or public education so it is very challenging for individuals to raise school fees. We hope that we can offer weekly classes for people in the community such as English classes, Bible classes, skills classes and of course sports! Eventually we would like to have VBS type weeks where they can come and learn about Christ and also play sports while interacting with their peers. We ask that you would please join us in prayer as we pray for provision to complete this project and for continued support to offer these classes to the community. Every donation we get for the training facility will help men, women and children have a chance to learn and grow! Garubunda Training Facility is located about 15 kilometers away from Rukungiri town. This site is the location for our “Blessed Hands Project”. Currently we use the land for crops and farming. We have planted strawberries, beans, apples, oranges, mangoes, and pineapples. We also have goats on the property, and in the future we would also like to have pigs as well.
Our intention is to empower local community members by teaching them a skill or a trade so that they can earn a living and provide for their families. We are planning on offering classes in jewelry making, African crafts, soaps, lotions, candles and leather shoe making. We are also developing a program to incorporate some vocational skills trainings such as carpentry and tailoring. By equipping Ugandans with skills and trades we not only have the opportunity to give them a better chance at life as far as their income but we also have the ability to share the Gospel with them. We believe that our lives should be built on a firm foundation rooted in Christ. At Garubunda we hope to pair all of the skills and trade classes with Biblical teachings to help bring these youth closer to God through discipleship programs and before training devotions. We trust that this will also change their lives in addition to the skills that will be acquired. Not only helping them gain financial independence but also developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
